Kochi: The Kerala High Court has granted anticipatory bail to dubbing artiste Bhagyalakshmi and two others Diya Sana and Sreelakshmi Arackal. The trio was charged with non-bailable offence for allegedly assaulting YouTuber Vijay P Nair over making derogatory derogatory comments on few women including Bhagyalakshmi in a video. Following this, they moved HC for anticipatory bail plea.

Considering the bail plea, the court observed that Bhagyalakshmi and her friends manhandled Vijay after losing trust in the judiciary.

Meanwhile, Bhagyalakshmi and friends argued that charges of attack and theft against them are not valid in the case.

They claimed that they visited Vijay P Nair to discuss the controversial video, as invited by him. The women noted that they handed over the laptop, mobile phone and headphones to police within three hours after the incident.

Bhagyalakshmi’s lawyer also dismissed the argument which claimed the women carried black ink and nettle plant to attack the YouTuber.

The defendant lawyer opposed the bail plea arguing that if the accused get bail it will give a negative message to the society. The lawyer who appeared for Vijay P Nair noted that the three women have already declared that they are ready to face any consequences for attacking the YouTuber.

Bhagyalakshmi’s lawyer informed the court that the women intended to bring a change in the society by questioning the YouTuber. Responding to this argument, the court pointed out that those who make efforts to bring change in the society must be ready to face consequences of their actions.

The video of attacking Vijay P Nair was released through Facebook Live on the social media pages of Sreelakshmi Arackal and Diya Sana.

Bhagyalakshmi stated that they decided to attack the man after the police ignored their complaint. She noted that they manhandled the YouTuber for the sake of women in Kerala.
