The festival organised in association with the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, is scheduled to be inaugurated by Adoor Gopalakrishnan on December 19, 2022.

Taking to Facebook, Jeo Baby wrote that he is withdrawing the movie to mark his protest against Adoor for allegedly destroying the future of the students at KR Narayanan Film Institute with his dictatorial regime.

“We strongly oppose the government's and Chalachitra Academy’s decision. We also demand legal action against KR Narayanan Film Institute chairman Adoor Gopalakrishnan and director Shankar Mohan,” reads the post.
