'Jana Gana Mana’ to ‘Meri Awas Suno’, Most anticipated Malayalam movies of this summer

The Malayalam film industry is all set to make a strong comeback with a good number of movies in this festival season. Movie-goers are waiting for the release of the most anticipated movies including Prithviraj’s ‘Jana Gana Mana’, Mammootty’s ‘Puzhu’, 'Meri Awas Suni' starring Jayasurya and Manju Warrier, Tovino’s ‘Vaashi’ and so on.

Let’s take a quick look at the movies expected to hit theatres this summer.

Jana Gana Mana

‘Jana Gana Mana’ starring Prithviraj is one of the most awaited movies as the teaser and trailer of the movie went viral on social media. The movie directed by Dijo Jose Antony features Suraj Venjaramoodu in a pivotal role. The political thriller will hit the theatres on April 28. Mamta Mohandas, Sri Divya, Dhruvan, Shari, Ilavarasu and Vincy Aloshious played major roles in the movie.


Mammootty starring ‘Puzhu’ will start streaming on the OTT platform SonyLiv soon. The movie directed by Ratheena PT is touted as a crime thriller. Late actor Nedumudi Venu, Indrans, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Athmiya Rajan and Malavika Menon played pivotal roles in the movie.


Joju George’s ‘Aviyal’ will have a theatrical release on April 7. The movie directed by Shanil Muhammad will feature Anaswara Rajan, Shafeer Khan, Athmeeya Rajan and Sirajudeen Nazir in lead roles.


Director Vishnu Raghav's much-awaited Malayalam film 'Vaashi', featuring actors Tovino Thomas and Keerthy Suresh in the lead is expected to hit the theatres this summer. Both Tovino and Keerthy play lawyers in the film, which according to rumours could be a courtroom drama. The film will be special for Keerthy Suresh as the film is being produced by her sister.

Meri Awas Suno

Manju Warrier and Jayasurya starrer ‘Meri Awas Suno’ will have a worldwide theatrical release on May 13. The movie is a remake of the Bengali hit 2019 film ‘Konttho’. The Malayalam remake is written and directed by G Prajesh Sen and produced by B Rakesh.

‘Patham Valavu’

‘Patham Valavu’ starring Suraj Venjaramoodu and Indrajith will hit the theatres on May 13. The thriller directed by M Padmakumar is based on true events. Aditi Ravi plays the female lead in the movie.


Nivin Pauly and Asif Ali starrer ‘Mahaveeryar’ directed by Abrid Shine is expected to hit the theatres soon. Adapted from a story by renowned author M. Mukundan, the theme of 'Mahaveeryar' revolves around fantasy, time travel, law books and legal proceedings.


Mohanlal fans are eagerly waiting for the release of ‘Monster’ directed by Vaisakh. The movie will mark the reunion of ‘Pulimurgan’ team. According to reports, the movie will be a complete entertainer. Lakshmi Manchu, Honey Rose and Sudev Nair will be seen in pivotal roles in the movie. The makers didn’t announce the release date yet. Earlier, it was reported that the team is planning for a Vishu release.
