Thiruvananthapuram: The 26th International Film Festival of Kerala is all set to commence on Friday. The event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at Nishagandhi Theater by 6.30 pm.
Renowned Indian filmmaker and director Anurag Kashyap will be the chief guest at the event. The CM will hand over the Spirit of Cinema award to Kurdish film director Lisa Calan who lost both her legs in a bomb attack by the IS.
The festival handbook will be presented to the Minister for Road Transport Antony Raju by Education Minister V Sivankutty. The festival bulletin will be handed over by Minister for Food and Civil Supplies G R Anil to the Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation Arya Rajendran. Advocate V K Prashanth MLA will present the festival edition of Chalachithra Sameeksha, the monthly bilingual magazine published by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC) Chairman Shaji N Karun will receive the first copy of the magazine.
Principal Secretary of the Cultural Department, Rani George, Academy Chairman Ranjith, Vice Chairman Premkumar, Artistic Director Beena Paul, and Secretary C Ajoy will attend the function. Singer Gayatri Asokan and Sooraj Sathe will perform a tribute to Lata Mangeshkar.
