In the wake of the recent controversy over her ‘Lady Superstar’ remarks, actor Malavika Mohanan took to social media and gave an explanation for her comments.

Taking to Twitter, Malavika wrote, “My comment was about a term that is used to describe female actors & not about any specific actor. I really respect & admire Nayanthara, and as a senior really look up to her incredible journey. Can people please calm down. Especially the tabloid journos.”

Earlier, the actor in a YouTube channel interview had opined that she does not like the term Lady Superstar. “I don’t like the term (superstar). Female actors can be called superstars. There is no need for the ‘lady’ tag. We don’t call Deepika Padukone a lady superstar, do we? Superstar Alia Bhatt, Superstar Katrina Kaif, that’s enough,” she said.

However, the actress’ comments left Nayanthara fans upset and she suffered criticism on social media.

Lately, Malavika’s indirect remarks about Nayanthara’s hospital scene in the film ‘Raja Rani’ had created much uproar among Nayan fans.
