Kozhikode: Renowned director Adoor Gopalakrishnan said that he believes actor Dileep is innocent in the 2017 actress kidnap and assault case.
He said he was against defaming a person without any evidence. He also dismissed the allegations levelled against Sankar Mohan, director of K R Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts and his wife, by a group of students. “I have witnessed K Karunakaran being booed and insulted during the ISRO spy case. Later, he was proven innocent,” he said in the interview given to The New Indian Express.
Adoor is the chairperson of the institute that has been witnessing students’ protests for the past few months. They allege caste discrimination towards students and employees, from the administration.
On the question of why he did not cast actor Mohanlal in his films, he said, “His image of a ‘good rowdy’ was problematic for me. I could not convince myself to shake off that image.”
