As the country’s top wrestlers continue to protest demanding action against outgoing Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, several artistes from the Malayalam film fraternity have expressed solidarity with them.
Taking to social media, prominent actors including Tovino Thomas, Aparna Balamurali and director Anjali Menon demanded justice for the wrestlers and condemned the police action against protesters.

Tovino Thomas took to his Instagram handle and wrote, “They should be heard & their demands should be considered. Keep aside their achievements and accolades, but there is a justice that each and every citizen of this nation deserves and that justice should not be delayed, never be denied.”
Meanwhile, Aparna Balamurali shared pictures of the wrestlers on her Instagram story and wrote as caption, “Heartbreaking to see our champions being treated like this.”
“The measure of a society lies in how it treats its women. It is heartbreaking to see the country’s top wrestlers being subjected to such humiliation,” wrote Anjali Menon.
On Tuesday, wrestlers had decided to toss their medals in the Ganges as part of the protest but temporarily stepped back from the decision, owing to the intervention of farmer leader Naresh Tikait.
