Actor Fahad Faasil opened up about his efforts to portray the negative role of Psycho Shammi in Kumbalangi Nights in an interview with Mathrubhumi Star and Style. The actor detailed the process of an actor in adopting the mental state of his character in the movie and importance of minute detailing of a character.

He quoted the mannerisms of his character as Shammi in ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ to exemplify how he gets into the mental state of the character.

Explaining about the character, Fahadh stated that he was forced to go shirtless for the movie even though he hated to do it.

“We had a joint family including my parents and grandparents. So our kitchen was a huge one and both men and women servants were there. When I came home from boarding school, I became very uncomfortable whenever I see men working in kitchen without shirts. I never understand why they prefer to go shirtless while working in kitchen,” said Fahadh.

“While shooting for Kumbalangi Nights, I never knew that I have to go shirtless for a scene in the movie. Because while working with Script writer Shyam, we will be completely focussed on the shooting. He used to make a plan on the next day’s shoot after watching the scenes which were shot. One day he narrated the scene of Shammi’s entry when the two sisters are conversing. I found the scene really funny. But when we were shooting the scene, Shyam asked me to go shirtless. Though I was not comfortable, after watching the scene I managed to do it well,” added the actor.

He noted that he observed that the women get irritated with Shammi like his irritation towards men who go shirtless.

Fahadh pointed that minute detailing has great importance in some scenes.

“Such scenes are not planned. Sometimes, we get the idea at the moment. When the director proposes such an idea, we will be able to catch it,” said Fahadh Faasil.

Fahadh will be next seen in ‘Trance’ directed by Anwar Rasheed. Nazriya will play the female lead in the movie.
