Dubai: Actor Joju George on Monday said that the excessive interference of social media has adversely impacted Malayalam cinema and demanded an end to the trend.

Speaking at a press conference in Dubai as part of the promotion of his latest release ‘Iratta’, the actor said that the viewers have the right to criticise a movie if it is bad.

“There are many people casting their opinion on social media without even watching films. They are acting very irresponsible. What they are saying on social media are creating wide impacts,” said the actor.

“Films are the life of many people. Do not play with it unnecessarily. Many may not like what I said now,” he added.

The press conference was also attended by Srikant Murali, Anjali, Sabumon and Srinda among others.

‘Iratta’, scripted and directed by debutant Rohit MG Krishnan, features Joju George in dual roles and is produced by Appu Pathu Pappu Productions, Sijo Vadakkan and Martin Prakkat Films.
