Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) has come out against an excise raid conducted in a hotel room of writer-director Najeem Koya in Erattupetta on Monday.
The intelligence wing of the Kerala Excise Department conducted a surprise raid at the hotel room based on an information received over the alleged presence of drugs in the director's room. Najeem and his crew arrived at the place and rented the room as part of a web series.
In a press conference held on Thursday, B Unnikrishan shared the plight faced by the young director in the hands of excise officials.
"The officials said, ’take out [the drug]’ upon entering the room. The officials misbehaved and ransacked the property. The raid took two hours. They constantly contacted someone via phone and said they didn't find anything," Unnikrishnan said.
He said that officials ransacked the property and examined the director's car but found nothing.
"At the end of the raid, he was asked to sign a paper claiming that they had not found anything. We are not against legal matters or inspection. However, there is a clear conspiracy behind targeting Najeem," he added.
