Kozhikode: Responding to the controversy over Malayalam film industry “not giving proper respect” to deceased actor Mamukkoya, actor’s son Nisar has come out stating that it was a “non-issue.”
He stated that his father never complained about anything. Nisar acknowledged that people have busy schedules and may not have been able to attend the funeral. He also called for an end to the controversy surrounding his father's death, stating that only prayers are necessary to honour his father's memory.

Mamukkoya, a beloved actor in the Malayalam cinema industry, passed away on Wednesday due to a brain haemorrhage and heart attack. His body was laid out for public viewing at Kozhikode town hall on the same day, but only a few filmmakers were in attendance, sparking controversy about whether Mamukkoya had received the respect he deserved.
Director VM Vinu publicly criticised filmmakers and stars, stating that if he was to die in Ernakulam, more people would attend his funeral.
The burial took place the following day with official honours at the Kannamparambu kabristan in Kozhikode. President of film actors’ organisation Amma, Edavela Babu, actors Joju George, Irshad, producer Aryadan Shaukat, and minister Ahmed Devarkovil were among those who paid respects to the actor.
