Kozhikode: Although ‘Dallas’ and ‘Dialysis’ are two different words, some people felt otherwise, leading to the spread of a brutal fake news story about legendary playback singer KJ Yesudas.

False news stories stating Yesudas is currently in critical condition and is undergoing dialysis have been making rounds on social media for the past three days.

The stories, which have been spread via WhatsApp and certain online websites, are accompanied by the felicitation speeches delivered during the singer’s 83rd birthday celebrations in Kochi.

Apparently, some people misunderstood the statement, “Dasettan could not attend the event as he is in Dallas” as “Dasettan could not attend the event as he is in dialysis.”

Soon after the birthday celebrations came to a close, news about the health of Yesudas began to circulate widely on social media.

However, the singer is currently staying with his son Vishal Yesudas and family in Dallas, Texas.

Although Yesudas took part in the birthday celebrations via online video conferencing, the ones who spread the fake news seem to have ignored it.

Meanwhile, lyricist and a close friend of Yesudas, RK Damodaran, said that the dialysis news is false and the singer is completely well.
