Kozhikode: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has responded to actor Joy Mathew’s Facebook post criticizing its activities, including the distribution of food parcels (pothichoru) to the needy.
Taking to Facebook, DYFI state secretary VK Sanoj condemned the actor’s remarks and wrote, "You disrespect the dignity of some socially responsible youngsters, as well as some nice souls who offer food parcels, a sight that may not have grabbed your attention en trip between flat and caravan."

Sanoj also said that the actor's recent outburst was a product of his interactions with the BJP. He also asked the actor to reveal whether any DYFI activist had claimed to have rushed Mathew to the hospital when he met with an accident in Thrissur.
“You alleged that DYFI members made fraudulent claims about taking you to the hospital. Has the DYFI's state or regional leadership, or any other important leader or activist, made the same declaration? If this is the case, you may make it public,” he wrote.
Joy Mathew had met with an accident on September 4 and was admitted to a private hospital in Chavakkad, Thrissur. A pickup van had rammed into the car carrying the actor.
Following the accident, Mathew shared a post on Facebook taking a jibe at DYFI activists alleging they were spreading fake news. He stated that DYFI activists claimed to have taken him to the hospital. However, Mathew added that it was the locals and fire force officials who had rescued him.
