Dileep, Ranjith

Kochi: Director Ranjith who faced criticism for sharing a stage with actor Dileep has come out with an explanation. Addressing the media here on Thursday, Ranjith stated that he went to attend a programme organised by Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) and not to Dileep’s house for a tea party. He added that it need not be misinterpreted in any other manner.

‘I went for the function as I received an invitation from the representatives of FEOUK. Dileep is the chairman of that organisation. The theatre owners association organised the function to felicitate me and Madhupal. The secretary of that association invited me to the event. I attended the function as invited by theatre owner Sumesh in Pala,’ Ranjith said while addressing the media.

He also questioned whether he should jump out of a plane if Dileep happens to be on it.

Ranjith had said that he has not supported Dileep through speech or in writings in the actress assault case. Ranjith, the chairman of the Kerala State Chalachithra Academy, said during the International film festival of Kerala that his visit to Aluva to see Dileep was very unexpected.

Days after the IFFK event, Ranjith and Dileep were seen sharing a stage. While addressing the event, Dileep had said that Ranjith is a man who is capable of serving as chairman of chalachithra academy.
