Mollywood star Rajisha Vijayan is excited about her Tamil debut movie ‘Karnan’ starring Dhanush. The ‘June’ actress took to her social media pages and revealed that ‘Karnan’ will have a theatrical release in this April.
“It’s a theatrical release! Karnan to the big screen this April,” wrote Rajisha. She also shared a poster of the movie.
The movie directed by Mari Selvaraj was embroiled in a controversy when rumours flew that the movie is based on the 1995 Kodiyankulam Maniyachi communal clash.
The makers reportedly received threats to stop shooting that was underway in Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi. Members of the political party Mukkulathor Pulipadai demanded that the shoot be cancelled. The party's leader, actor-turned-politician Karunas, even went on to say that the film is critical of a particular community, and its portrayal of history might create unrest in the region. Party members also urged the police to arrest the director.
