Kochi: Bollywood actress Sunny Leone, who was booked in a cheating case, has moved an anticipatory bail plea in the High Court here on Tuesday. In the plea, the actress pointed out that the cheating case against her will not exist as the event did not take place due to lapses from the event organisers.
The actress and representatives of Sun City Media, the other accused in the case have approached the High Court after the Crime Branch interrogated them over the cheating case.
“The organisers postponed the event many times. Later, they informed me that the event will be held in Bahrain but that didn't take place. I arrived to attend the event which was organised on Valentine’s Day in 2019. But the organisers refused to settle my full remuneration as per the contract. Because of this, the event was cancelled. Hence, cheating charges will not exist against me,” said Sunny Leone in the complaint.
Perumbavur native and programme coordinator Shiyas lodged a complaint against the actress. He also alleged that Sunny had taken Rs 29 lakh as an advance for attending the event.
His complaint also noted that the manager of the actress received the money in instalments from him.
Sunny Leone dismissed the cheating charges against her and stated that she failed to attend the event as organisers postponed it several times.
At present, the Kochi unit of Crime Branch is probing the case.
