Rajinikanth undergoes major surgery; recovering well, says hospital


The surgery was succesful, Dr Aravindan Selvaraj, the Executive Director of Kauvery hospital said in a media bulletin on Friday.

Chennai: Megastar Rajinikanth, who was admitted to Kauvery Hospital here on Thursday evening"following an episode of giddiness," has undergone surgery successfully, the hospital authorities said in a media bulletin on Friday.

"He was thoroughly evaluated by the expert panel of doctors and was advised to undergo carotid artery revascularization," reads the statement. Carotid artery revascularization is a surgical procedure to remove a plaque from the major blood vessel that supplies blood to the brain. The surgery reinstates blood flow to the brain.

The surgery was successful, Dr Aravindan Selvaraj, the Executive Director of Kauvery hospital said in the bulletin.

The actor is recovering well, reads the bulletin. He will be released in a few days, it says.
