Chennai: Film and theatre artiste V Parameswaran Nair passed away. He was 85. He had been undergoing treatment for some time following a stroke. Nair breathed his last around Monday evening.

He had been residing in Chennai for more than five decades. Initially, he served in the Army for a few years and later joined IDPA.

Nair, who is noted for portraying the role of ‘Velichappadu’ in Santhosh Sivan’s ‘Anandabhadram’, has acted in numerous films, serials, plays, and advertisements. He has also written and directed plays.

Nair has bagged several awards including the first Guru Puja Award instituted by Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi and the Best Actor Award by Tata Dhan Foundation, among others.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the actor’s residence in Woodcreek County, Nandambakkam in Chennai.
