Kochi: Within days after the Kerala film bodies in a joint move temporarily banned Sreenath Bhasi from cinema, the actor on Thursday approached the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) seeking membership in the organisation. Bhasi arrived at the AMMA office and handed over his membership application.

However, a decision on the application will be taken only by the executive committee. The actor’s application will be considered in the next committee meeting of the organisation.

According to AMMA’s rules, a person's conduct is also a criteria for providing membership. Meanwhile, actor Shane Nigam has also approached AMMA against the ban, claiming that the allegations against him are baseless.

Shane Nigam and Sreenath Bhasi were temporarily banned from cinema by the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA), AMMA and Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA) following repeated complaints of alleged bad behaviour in sets.
