As the country continues in the grip of coronavirus, the announcement of the 67th national film awards has been delayed indefinitely. Filmmaker Rahul Rawail who was the chairman of last year’s national film awards jury has revealed the matter while addressing media. He reported that as per the present circumstances, the jury members cannot gather for selecting the award winners.

The national film awards was supposed to be declared on May 3. But as coronavirus outbreak and lockdown continue in the country, the announcement of the awards was postponed indefinitely.

It is hinted that the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa and International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in Thiruvananthapuram will not be held this year. In order to conduct the film festivals, works related to it must be carried out now. But as it is not practical at present, film festivals will be cancelled. Apart from difficulties to make arrangements, the financial crisis is another reason to cancel the film festivals.
