Yesudas visits Kollur Mookambika temple on Birthday
Kollur: Veteran singer Dr KJ Yesudas paid obeisance at Mookambika temple here on Friday. He visited the temple to celebrate his 80th birthday.
The singer used to visit the temple and offer a special music performance to the Goddess every year on his birthday. Knowing this, huge number of his fans also arrived at the temple to greet their favourite singer.
As the singer is celebrating his 80th birthday, his fans arrived at the temple on Thursday itself. Many VIPs from the film industry also reached Kollur temple to greet Dr KJ Yesudas.
Yesudas arrived at the temple on Thursday around 9 pm via Mangalore airport from Chennai. His wife Prabha, sons Vinod, Vijay and Vishal also accompanied him. They took accommodation at Mahalakshmi residency here.
After having darshan of the Goddess, ‘Chandikahomam’ will be offered at the temple on Friday morning. Following this, Yesudas will stage his performance for the deity. He will also take part in the musical performance organised by Kanhangad Ramachandran and team.
Many budding singers will have the opportunity to have their ‘Arangettam’ (first performance) in the presence of Yesudas at the temple.
The singer will present the Souparnikamrutha Puraskaram constituted by the Mookambika Sangeetharadhana Samithi to music director TS Radhakrishnan at an event in the temple.
On Thursday night, Yesudas celebrated his birthday by cutting a cake with his family at Kollur.
