Singer Shweta Mohan shares her memories about the first meeting with her husband, Ashwin. Shweta opened up her mind in the happiness project of the Mathrubhumi Kappa TV.
“Me and Ashwin’s sister Arathi were studying in the same college. Both of us were part of the light music club. Thus, we became friends.
One day, I participated in a music competition. I have done a lot of practice for that competition. Several students participated in the program. When the results came out, my name was not in the list of the winners. I didn’t even get the price given to the 15 students who sang well. I became tired of crying. I always dreamt of becoming a singer like mom. I felt that all my dreams would never come true. Then, Arathi consoled me and said that we will go to her home and relax. When we reached her home, Ashwin opened the door for us. He was wearing shorts and he ran away seeing me. It was one of the most memorable experiences in my life.”
My daughter’s birth has redefined my life, says Shweta. She gave birth to a baby girl six months ago. The baby’s name is Shreshta.
“I have enjoyed each stage of my pregnancy. Bearing a baby in womb is a splendid experience. I quit stage shows when I was five months pregnant. Then, I performed only recordings. Shreshta is the pet of her grandma (Sujatha). Both of us always sing songs for her. We hope that she too would be interested in music. “
Shweta said that her parents weren’t interested in making her a singer. They knew the changing trends in the industry and they must have disagreed due to the challenges in the field. I wasn’t interested in music during my childhood. I used to bunk music classes by finding excuses. I began to love music when I started to participate in music competitions at school, she added.
