Yesudas to skip Mookambika temple visit on birthday for first time in 48 yrs

Mangaluru: Singer KJ Yesudas who is fondly called as Ganagandharvan will not be able to visit Kollur Mookambika temple on his birthday this year. The veteran singer has been offering musical tribute at the temple on his birthday continuously for 48 years.

This time, Yesudas will celebrate his birthday on January 10 in Dallas, USA. According to reports, the singing legend was forced to skip his visit to Mookambika due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

But his close friends have planned to conduct his concert at Mookambika temple through webcast.

A huge screen will be arranged at Saraswathi Mandapam for this purpose.

According to reports, Yesudas will sing the song starting ‘Vani Vagadeeswari’ in the live concert. Before the concert, Yesudas will light a lamp in his puja room at the house in Dallas.

Lyricist RK Damodaran has informed about the cancellation of the singer’s visit to Mookambika.

Chief priest Govinda Adiga will perform special puja for the singer on his birthday which falls on January 10. Meanwhile, singer Kanhangad Ramachandran informed that he will conduct the musical tribute which is held as an offering for the well-being of Yesudas since 2001.

In 2020, Yesudas visited the temple along with his family on his 80th birthday.
