Bhuban Badyakar, a peanut seller from the Birbhum district in West Bengal started singing ‘Kacha Badam’, a song that he composed himself while selling peanuts.
The song started to gain attention after someone posted a video of him singing the song online. It later became a sensation through its extensive use in Instagram reels and TikTok.
A remix of the song was released about a month ago which garnered up to 47M million views on YouTube. The music company that produced that song has now given Bhuban a remuneration of Rs 3 lakhs.
Gopal Ghose of Godhulibela Music said that a cheque of Rs 1.5 lakhs was given to Bhuban and that the remaining amount will be paid to him soon.
There is also a section of people who question whether the amount paid to him is enough considering how popular the song has become.
