Akkitham pens lyrics for Sanskrit movie
Palakkad: Poet Akkitham Achuthan Nambuthiri has written a song for a movie for the first time. He has written a Sanskrit song for 'Ishti', the first feminist feature film in Sanskrit.
The movie will critically investigate the unacceptable practices prevailed in the Nambuthiri community in Kerala until 50 years ago. Director Dr G Prabha has also written screenplay and dialogues of 'Ishti'. Prabha was a Sanskrit professor at Loyola College, Chennai.
Nedumudi Venu and Athira Patel are the lead actors in the movie. The shoot is progressing at Paduthol Mana in Piravom.
The word 'Ishti' means searching for the self.
Besides Akkitham, Prof V Madhusoodanan Nair is also penning lyrics for the film. Kaithapram Damodaran Nambuthiri is the composer.
G Prabha had earlier directed documentaries about Mahakavi Akkitham and Panjal athirathram.
