Yesudas offers musical worship to Mookambika from US on his 81st birthday
Paravur: Legendary singer KJ Yesudas offered a musical worship to Goddess Mookambika through a webcast on his 81st birthday. The Ganagandharvan performed from Dallas in the US on Sunday as he is unable to visit the temple amid the COVID restrictions.
It is for the first time in 48 years, Yesudas skipped his visit to Mookambika temple on his birthday.
A huge screen was arranged at the Saraswathi mandapam in the temple to stream the live performance of the singer.
Devotees of the temple enjoyed the legendary singer’s soulful performance and captured it on camera.
Though Yesudas failed to turn up, music lovers and his close friends who used to accompany him to the temple did not cancel their visit. They reached Mookambika temple on Sunday and offered the special puja ceremonies for Yesudas. Chief priest Govinda Adiga performed the puja and rituals.
Dr C M Radhakrishnan from Paravur started the musical worship by singing the song starting ‘Sri Ganapati’ in Kannada raga.
Yesudas joined online soon after Radhakrishnan’s performance. He performed ‘Sree Saraswathi Namasthuthe’ and ‘Vani Vagadeeswari’.
The music legend also sang the popular song ‘Kudajadriyil Kudikollum Maheswari’ penned by K Jayakumar.
Concluding his performance, he addressed the gathering at the temple and sought the blessings of the Goddess to visit the temple next year.
