Will Prithviraj enter in the climax!
Kochi: All eyes have now shifted on actor Prithviraj after four actresses, including the attacked actress, left the film body `AMMA’. If at all Prithviraj comes to the rescue of the four actresses then AMMA could see a likely split.
It was Prithviraj who extended his unflinching support and reacted first when the actress was attacked. Prithviraj had said at the AMMA executive meet which was convened in Mammootty’s home at that time that Dileep must be ousted from the film body and if the request is not endorsed by AMMA then he would be forced to quit the film body. After this demand by Prithvi, AMMA had decided to keep off actor Dileep from AMMA. The film body’s only intention was to take AMMA in unison and avoid a division.
There were many murmurings at that time and now with four actresses leaving the organisation, AMMA looks set to face a lot of challenges. Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), led by a group of top female stars like Parvathy, Reema Kalingal, Ramya Nambeesan and others, had lashed out against AMMA’s decision to reinstate Dileep. When the collective was set up, Director Aashiq Abu and a few persons supported WCC from outside. None of the actors had come out to support WCC in the open. Many of the female actors too kept mum.
Ever since Prithviraj ventured into the cine world, the cold war prevailing with Dileep is an open secret within the fraternity. And Prithvi was firm in his point. Many are keen to know if Sukumaran’s son Prithviraj may walk out of AMMA and launch a new body. But if Prithviraj takes a stern stand, how many will be with him remains to be seen.
At the AMMA executive meet, actor Asif Ali had supported Prithviraj in the beginning. Asif had even told media on his opinion on throwing out Dileep from AMMA. But later at the meet, Asif Ali did a volte face and said he did not make such a statement.
In the midst of all these, if Prithviraj tries to garner support and get out of AMMA, then will others follow suit and will it see an exodus of its members. Prithviraj’s maiden directorial venture is slated for next month and rumours has it that he may not make a sudden decision but instead wait and then act.
AMMA leadership feels that the four actresses who exited are not very active in the field and their leaving will not create any ripples or threaten the outfit. They also said that no one else would leave the body. Manju Warrier, who heads the WCC, Parvathy and others remain silent over the issue and AMMA top brass opine that itself is a proof to show the disparity among them.
