Today is Balabhaskar’s 1st death anniversary; police still clueless
Kochi: One year has passed since the death of noted musician Balabhaskar and Wednesday is the first death anniversary of the artiste. One year after his demise, the death still remains shrouded in mystery.
Balabhaskar, 40, and his family met with an accident at Pallipuram in Thiruvananthapuram when their car hit a tree in the wee hours of September 25 last year. While his daughter died on the spot, his wife and driver escaped with injuries. The violinist and his family were returning to Thiruvananthapuram after visiting a temple.
The violinist passed away after a massive cardiac arrest after a week-long battle in the ICU on October 2, 2018.
The case saw a lot of twists and turns, when some of the witness revealed it was not an accident. Investigations into the celebrity violinist’s death have been progressing with suspicions, claims and counter claims.
In the first conflicting report, Lakshmi, Balabhaskar’s wife and driver Arjun gave contradictory statements. Even Balabhaskar’s father C K Unni approached the Police chief Loknath Behera demanding Crime Branch probe into the incident.
Another major development in the case occurred when two accused in a gold smuggling case were questioned and they were suspected to have links with Balabhaskar. The accused had told police that they knew the violinist well. Statement given by sound recording artist Soby George also posed a challenge to the probe team as he said that he had seen two suspicious looking men at the accident site.
The police are yet to find out who had driven the car at the time of the accident and after an year, the family remembers the pain and agony they underwent.
