That day I cried my heart out on the middle of the road: Suraj Venjaramoodu
National award winner Suraj Venjaramoodu is no stranger to character roles today. His journey from mimicry to the forefront of cinema was not smooth.
In an interview given to Grihalakshmi, he shares about an unforgettable day of his life. During the early days of his career, he was offered a role which needed a 15-day-long shoot. Cancelling his stage programs, he boarded the bus.
“The production controller then called me and said, the offer is no more. I alighted from the bus at Aristo Junction in Thiruvananthapuram and cried my heart out there on the middle of the road”, he says.
“I was so embarrassed to go home. The only thing in my mind was to get a role in movies. Finally, I was blessed with a full length role in the film Mayavi and fortunately it was a superhit”, he continues.
Suraj also shares his national award experience. He said that he was shocked at first when came to know about the honour. Didn’t have any Idea on this like when, where and how they given my name for the award, he added.
“I was so happy when my name scrolled in the TV announcing my entry to the final two spots. It was like, now it is okay even if I don’t win this”, he said.
But the god had decided that the national award is for me, he added.
