Suriya’s ‘Soorarai Pottru’ enters Oscar race
Kollywood star Suriya’s latest release ‘Soorarai Pottru’ has entered the Oscar race under general category in best actor, best actress, best director, best original score and other categories. The movie directed by Sudha Kongara has recieved best reviews from the audience and critics alike.
According to reports, the film was made available in the Academy Screening room on Tuesday.
Rajsekar Pandian, co-producer of the movie, confirmed the Oscar entry through his official Twitter page.

He also shared some screenshots of the mail from the Academy Awards.
Amid the COVID-19 crisis, the academy has changed the rules related to screening of the movies in the competition.
Usually, the makers of the movies will organise a show for the jury members in Los Angeles.But this time, all procedures have turned virtual. Jury members will watch movie online.
‘Soorarai Pottru’, based on the life of Air Deccan founder Gopinath, was released through OTT platform Amazon Prime.
Aparna Balamurali, Urvashi and Paresh Ravel also played pivotal roles in the movie.
