Shrikumar Menon had issued threats to me: Manju Warrier's statement to police
Thrissur: The Crime Branch recorded statements of actress Manju Warrier on the complaint that director Shrikumar Menon had threatened her. The statement was taken at Manju's home in Thrissur on Sunday afternoon.
The screenshots of the threatening messages on the mobile phone were handed over to the investigation team to validate the complaint. Manju had filed a complaint to the Director General of Police (DGP) last week.
The district crime branch is investigating the case. Assistant Commissioner C. D. Srinivasan is leading the team. Case was registered against the director under the sections pertaining to outraging the modesty of a woman. In her complaint, she alleged that since 2017, he insulted womanhood and her profession, defamed her on social media and tarnished her image in shooting sets of the movie ‘Odiyan’.
According to the complaint filed, Manju had entered into a contract with Shrikumar Menon's Push Telephone Company in 2013 and acted in their several advertising films. In 2017, she cancelled the contract following which he verbally abused and issued threats to her.
Shrikumar Menon had sent her messages informing on several news that came about her on online media portals, even before it was published. Evidences regarding this were also handed over to police. The evidences included some fake news relating Manju's promise on rehabilitating the adivasis of the 2018-flood affected Panamaram colony, by constructing new houses for them.
Manju Warrier also handed over some documents relating to the case at the city police commissioner's office. The next day, Shrikumar Menon has been summoned to the police station to record his statement.
