PM Modi thanks Mammootty for urging fans to join in light the lamp initiative
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to Mollywood star Mammootty for promoting the Diya Jalao campaign which the PM had called on Sunday at 9 pm for 9 minutes.
On Saturday, Mammootty extended his support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Diya Jalao campaign which requires people to light lamps or flash their torchlight for 9 minutes at 9 pm on Sunday. The megastar appealed to the people to take part in the campaign by following the directions of the Prime Minister.
“Thank you, Mammootty. A heartfelt call for unity and brotherhood like yours is what our nation needs in the fight against COVID-19. #9pm9minute,” tweeted Modi by retweeting Mammootty’s video message.
On April 3, Modi asked the countrymen to light lamps or candles for nine minutes at 9 pm on Sunday.
"On April 5 (Sunday), at 9 pm, turn off all the lights in your homes, stand at your doors or in your balconies, and light candles or diyas, torches or mobile flashlights for 9 minutes," Modi said, adding this is to challenge the darkness caused by the coronavirus.
On Sunday morning he took to twitter and reminded the people to join the initiative.
