Mollywood’s great-grandpa P V Unnikrishnan Namboothiri celebrates 98th birthday
PV Unnikrishnan Namboothiri, the great grandfather of the Malayalam film industry turned 98 on Saturday.
Every day, he wakes up at 6 am and continues his daily routine without any change. After taking bath, he offers morning prayers. As he became wheelchair-bound due to age-related ailments, he is unable to practice yoga.
Though he is weak due to old age, neither lifestyle diseases nor any other physical problems disturb him.
Unnikrishnan Namboothiri has been strictly following a food diet. Interestingly, he includes sugar in his breakfast and lunch.
Nowadays, he remains at his ancestral house ‘Pulleri Vadyarillam’ in Payannur. In February, his younger son PV Kunhikrishnan was sworn in as High Court Judge in Kochi. It was the last function he attended recently.
He has made his acting debut with the Malayalam movie ‘Desadanam’ at the age 76.
According to him, he turned an actor accidentally. After his Mollywood debut, he also acted in Tamil movies along with Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai.
His roles in Malayalam movies ‘Kalyanaraman’ and ‘Oral Mathram’ have gained much popularity for him.
He was last seen in ‘Mazhavillinattam Vare’ directed by lyricist and music director Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri who is his son-in-law.
Unnikrishnan will have a quiet birthday. His grandchild Nihara’s birthday also falls on the same date. His daughters Devaki, Yamuna, sons Bhavadasan and Justice PV Kunhikrishnan and their family will reach the ancestral house for the birthday celebration.
