Mohanlal, Manju Warrier donate for daily wage workers
Kochi: Superstar Mohanlal and actress Manju Warrier contributed their donations to the financial aid collection for daily wage workers in the film industry. The donation programme is undertaken by directors union FEFKA.
According to reports, Mohanlal donated Rs 10 lakh to the fund. At the same time, Manju Warrier contributed Rs 5 lakh.
FEFKA announced their initiative to raise fund for the welfare of the daily wage workers who went jobless amid the lockdown the other day. Tollywood star Allu Arjun also offered help to the noble mission.
“Many people in the film industry are experiencing financial crunch following the cancellation of shootings. We are bound to help them. I hope more people from the industry will come forward to help the daily wage workers,” said Manju Warrier.
FEFKA informed that the financial aid will be given to the daily wage workers next month. The association hopes that around 5000 workers will benefit from it.
Technicians who are working for small wage in low-budget movies will be included under the scheme.
FEFKA general secretary B Unnikrishnan reported that 19 committee members were directed to prepare the list of workers who are eligible for the financial support.
FEFKA general council meet which held a meet through video conference has decided to raise fund for the workers.
It is observed that though coronavirus would be put under control, at least 3 months will be taken to resume the shootings. Financial aid to each worker will be given considering the number of family members and financial security of the family. FEFKA has already started to accumulate fund for the scheme.
