Mammootty shares an emotional Facebook post on his big fan Mammootty Subran
Thrissur: ‘Subran, whom I had known for years, has left. The demise of Subran, who changed his name to Mammootty Subran because of his love towards me, is painful, tributes' - actor Mammootty posted an emotional post on his Facebook page on Sunday. Along with the message he also clubbed an old picture of him with Subra.
The actor was describing Subran who passed away on Saturday. Subran lived under a banyan tree at the junction near the Sri Sankarankulangara temple in Thrissur. Subran, after showing signs of difficulty in breathing at around 9 pm, was rushed to the Thrissur General Hospital by the locals. However, he passed away a short while later at the hospital.
Locals used to call him Mammootty Subran since he kept the image of his beloved actor beside the image of the gods and lit a lamp in front of them.
Subran had no family or relatives but was very close to Mammootty and regularly paid a visit to his shooting location, and to his home. Subran, a porter by profession, also kept several pictures of him with the actor. He also had a dream of making a movie with Mammootty, and for this, he regularly bought lottery tickets.
Upon hearing the news of his demise, Mammootty contacted the councillor of Thrissur Corporation V. Athira on Sunday and asked for more information.
Mammootty said that Subran was very close to him from 1992 to 1998 and recalled his memories with him. The actor also remembered Subran visiting him and in one instance he had to scold Subran for consuming alcohol.
