Mammootty backs PM’s call for lighting lamps at 9 pm on Sunday
Mollywood star Mammootty extended his support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Diya Jalao campaign which requires people to light lamps or flash their torchlight for 9 minutes at 9 pm on Sunday. The megastar appealed to the people to take part in the campaign by following the directions of the Prime Minister.
He declared his support to the campaign in a Facebook live video on Saturday. He requested all to take part in the campaign as declaring support to the coronavirus preventive measures.
“When our country is battling against the pandemic coronavirus with unity, I would like to extend my best wishes to the unity lamp which will be lighted up in every house for 9 minutes on April 5 at 9 pm as per the request of Prime Minister. I wish everyone should take part in the campaign which expresses solidarity and brotherhood. I request you for the same,” said Mammootty in the video.
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the people across the country to light up candles or torchlight for 9 minutes to dispel the darkness spread by the coronavirus.
In his short video message, Modi said that at 9 pm on Sunday, people should switch off all lights for nine minutes and light up lamps, switch on torches or cell-phone flashlights.
