Lawson Biju flays Prithviraj for his comment on `Ranam'
Lawson Biju, one of the three producers of movie ‘Ranam’, has condemned actor Prithviraj Sukumaran for his controversial comment about the movie. Prithviraj, who played the lead role in the movie, had said at a public event that the movie was a failure. Biju also said Prithviraj should not have made such a negative comment on a movie that is still running in theatres.
Actor Rahman, who played the antagonist in the movie, also criticised Prithviraj’s comment earlier. Biju's statement was in reply to Rahman’s Facebook post.
A fan tagging Lawson Biju in his post had commented that the response from the audience to the film was average and endorsed Prithviraj's view. Biju's latest comment condemning Prithviraj was in reply to this comment.
“If this movie was an experiment, he should have made it with his own money. Not the other way using the producer’s money. It’s true that the movie got only average response from audience. But he shouldn’t have made this comment at a public event as the movie is still running in the theatres,” said Biju.
‘Ranam’ was produced by Lawson Entertainment of Lawson Biju in collaboration with Yes Cinema Company of Anand Payyanur.
“Films like ‘Koode’ would be successful, but movies like ‘Ranam’ may not be successful. When I look back after 10 years, I shouldn’t regret that I didn’t try different movies,” said Prithviraj in his controversial comment.
However, Prithviraj’s comment triggered a discussion in the social media. He was criticised for saying that the movie was a failure when it is still in theatres. Following that Rahman also criticised Prithviraj without mentioning Prithiraj’s name. Rahman used the acclaimed dialogue of Mohanlal’s movie ‘Rajavinte Makan’ to criticise Prithviraj.
