Kasaragod: Mammootty fans in here were eagerly waiting for the release of their super star’s movie ‘Madhura Raja’. But, they were displeased when the municipality authorities shut down the theatre complex on Thursday following a high court order.
Since it was a court order, fans found nowhere to complain about the closing down. Fans who were so particular to watch the first show of the movie went to Mangalore and Kahangad. Those who reached the theatre without knowing of the shut down returned annoyed.
The ads carried in the newspapers had listed the Mehaboob theatre for the release and this led to the misunderstanding among the movie goers. Some who arrived at the theatre expecting to watch movie turned angry and sad. The tensed moment was over when the news came that the movie will be played in another theatre by noon. Thereafter, it was a celebration for fans. The show began at 3.30 pm. Fans who watched the movie dispersed after bursting crackers in front of the theatre.
When the movie was released in whole of Kerala except in Kasaragod, it really saddened the us, said Anshad Chemmanad, district secretary of Mammootty Fans Association.
High court had ordered to shut down the Mehaboob theatre after it found that the theatre lacked fire and safety measures.
