Kamal dismisses Salim Kumar’s allegations
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chalachithra Academy chairman director Kamal has dismissed the allegations raised by actor Salim Kumar over the inauguration of International Film Festival of Kerala. Reacting to the actor’s allegation, Kamal stated that there are no politics and claimed that the IFFK committee was late to extend the invitation to the actor.
“We have planned to conduct the inauguration with the new generation in the film industry. I was informed that Salim Kumar was invited for the event,” said Kamal.
Salim Kumar himself raised an allegation that IFFK committee excluded him from the inaugural ceremony of IFFK.
The national award winners are to light the lamp for the function. But when asked why he was not invited, the organisers cited his age as reason for not including his name.
“They came up with the trivial response of giving an opportunity to youngsters. But in case of age, there is no huge age difference between Ashiq Abu, Amal Neerad or me. They both were my juniors in college. Here everything is political. I didn’t receive an award just when congress was in rule, I had won even during CPM reign,” he said.
Actor Tini Tom had alerted IFFK committee to invite Salim Kumar for the IFFK inaugural function in Ernakulam. Hence, I don’t believe they have forgotten to invite me.
They invited me when their move triggered a controversy. Hence, I won’t attend the event, declared Salim Kumar.
