Thiruvananthapuram: As many as 12 films will be screened in the competition section of the 25th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) on Thursday and Friday. Among them are four Indian films. Audience poll that allows the viewers to choose their favourite films have also been opened.
‘Churuli’ by Lijo Jose Pellissery, which will have its world premiere at the IFFK, and ‘Kosa’ by Mohit Priyadarshi will be screened today at the Tagore and Kairali theatres in Thiruvananthapuram respectively. ‘Sthalpuran’ by Akshay Indikar and ‘Hasyam’ by Jayaraj have been scheduled for Thursday at the Kairali theatre.
‘Memory House’ by Joao Paulo Miranda; ‘Kosa’ by Mohit Priyadarshi, featuring Kosa Muchaki, a 17-year-old picked up by a police unit on suspicion of being a Maoist; Mexican film Andrea Martinez Crowther’s ‘Birdwatching, which narrates the tale of an Alzheimer’s afflicted woman who wants her breakdown to be filmed; Tran Thahn Huy’s ‘Rom’, which tells the story of a teenage boy struggling to survive on the streets and waterways of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon); ‘Desterro’ by Brazilian poet and screenwriter Maria Clara; and Alejandro Telémaco Tarraf’s ‘Lonely Rock’ are some of the competition films to be screened at the festival.
