Megastar Mammoottty on Monday extended support to the daily wage workers who are anxious about their livelihood after the government imposed a complete lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19. On Monday, the 'Mamangam' actor took to his Facebook page and appealed to all to have compassion for the daily wage workers who are their neighbours.
"There are many daily wagers around us. They will have limitations to stock up food products or other essential items. Everyone should think about such people who are your neighbours or acquaintances. And must enquire whether they have enough food to eat as there is no job. If they have nothing in stock, we should store food for them too. Government has taken action to supply ration. I recommend the government must have a system to take care of these underprivileged people. Those measures may not be enough to ensure their welfare. If the whole society takes care, everyone can live at home peacefully," wrote Mammootty.
He noted that it is time to stay inside and he reached home after cancelling shooting two weeks back. The actor also asked the public to avoid storing essential materials in large quantities.
"When you store essential items excessively, you are stealing the food and items which are entitled to others. Many people would not be able to access essential items when another group stocks it up in large quantities. Store things which are necessary for you. Never waste food as it is not a luxury but a basic need," appealed the actor.
Mammootty also expressed gratitude to the employees in the health sector who are engaged in the battle against coronavirus.
Encouraging all to stay at home, the actor pointed out that home is the safest place amid the COVID-19 outbreak. Mammootty also asked the people to use the opportunity to build strong relationships with old friends and relatives through phone and internet.
On the work front, Mammooty will be seen in the upcoming movies 'One' and 'The Priest'.
