Films, TV serial on Koodathayi murder; court summons makers
Thamarasserry: The Muncif–Magistrate court here summoned the makers of films and television serials on the controversial Koodathayi murder case. The makers were asked to appear before the court on Monday, January 13.
The court took the action after considering the petition of Renji Thomas, sister of Roy Thomas who was killed. In her petition, Renji requested the court to stop the production of the movies and telecast of the serial which are based on the murder case.
Along with Renji, key accused Jolly’s sons Remo Roy and Ronald Roy also named as complainants in the petition moved by Adv M Muhammad Firdoz.
Following the hearing of the petition, the court issued summons to Aashirvad Cinemas owner Antony Perumbavoor, Dini Daniel of Vamos Media Productions, Flowers channel CEO Sreekandan Nair and serial director Gireesh.
Responding to the news, Renji Thomas stated that she moved the petition considering the mental state of her late brother Roy’s sons.
“For Remo and Ronald, their mother will be portrayed as a character in these movies and serials. They are having great mental strain following the case. I moved the petition to stop the broadcast of the serial and production of the movies as requested by them, Renji told media.
Earlier, Antony Perumbavoor announced a movie titled ‘Koodathayi’, an investigation thriller starring Mohanlal. Vamos Media has also announced a movie titled ‘Jolly’. At the same time, Flowers channel was about to broadcast a serial on the controversial case from January 13.
