Documentary filmmaker Jyothi Prakash no more
Perambra: Documentary filmmaker and social activist Jyothi Prakash passed away at his residence here on Sunday. He was 60. A native of Malappuram, he retired from the post of village officer. He was residing at Eranjipalam in Kozhikode.
Jyothi Prakash is known for winning the national award for his documentary Ithihasathile Khasak. This documentary is based on O V Vijayan's 'Khasakinte Ithihasam'.
Jyothi Prakash was fighting cancer and was undergoing treatment until recently.
A poet and artist, he has bagged the national and state award for documentaries and short films. He won the national award for the short film Atman in 1996 and was also the recipient of John Abraham award.
He is son of N Balan Nair, Kannur and Sarada Amma from Malappuram. He is survived by wife Geeta and children Adithya Menon and Chand Prakash.
