Difference of opinion in AMMA; Jagadish rejects Siddique
Kochi: A dispute has been formed in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) regarding the response to allegations raised by the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) members. The difference of opinion occurred between AMMA official spokesperson Jagadish and AMMA secretary Siddique.
Soon after AMMA secretary Siddique and executive committee member KPAC Lalitha said that the press statement issued by AMMA spokesperson Jagadish earlier was not official, Jagadish has come up with the response. He said that the press note was issued after discussing it with AMMA president Mohanlal and that he did not know why Siddique responded in that way.
The dispute resulted from the press note issued by Jagadish claiming to be the official statement of AMMA about the allegations raised by WCC. Later Siddique stated in a press meet along with KPAC Lalitha that Jagadish was not assigned to issue the official statement of the association and that they are the ones speaking officially on behalf of AMMA.
The press note issued by Jagadish had noted that a general body will be convened shortly in order to discuss the allegations and demands put forward by the WCC. It also pointed out that a meeting to be held on October 24 will fix the date of general body meeting. Siddique also claimed that he is not aware of the things mentioned in the press note.
