Dealer gives discount of Rs 30 lakh; registration of Prithviraj’s luxury car halted
Kochi: Ernakulam RTO blocked the registration of a new luxury car owned by actor Prithviraj Sukumaran after the dealer of the vehicle showed a reduced amount on the bill.
According to the bill, the vehicle worth Rs 1.64 crore was given a discount of Rs 30 lakh. However, Ernakulam RTO Manoj said that whether given discount or not, full amount of tax should be paid.
The malpractice was found when the vehicle was brought for temporary registration. According to law, those vehicles above Rs 20 lakh should pay 21 percent as tax. But the dealer had showed the bill with a discount of Rs 30 lakh. They were instructed to pay the tax for the full amount, RTO said.
"Investigation revealed that Prithviraj had paid the full amount for the vehicle but the dealer had brought out a bill with discounted amount," the RTO told Mathrubhumi.com.
Following this, the dealer paid the full amount of tax and completed the temporary registration.
