Thiruvananthapuram: Lijo Jose Pellissery's 'Churuli' had its world premiere on Thursday at the Tagore Theatre, Vazhuthacaud. One of the major highlights of the festival, the film received huge reception from the crowd. The first screening was in front of a full house.
'Churuli' depicts the uncivilised contemplation of civilised people. It narrates the tale of two undercover cops who embark on a journey trailing a criminal. The circumstances and the people they come across are mysterious, making them question their own individuality.
The captivating frames of Madhu Neelakandan play a pivotal role in giving a roller-coaster feel to the movie. Ranganath Ravee's sound design and Sreerag Saji's music provide an eerie delight to the film.
Lijo Jose Pellissery's treatment of ‘Churuli’ received wide acclaim from among the festival audience. Actor Vinay Fort who played the role of 'Shajivan' in the flim, said what he saw on the big screen was a visual treat and something beyond his imagination, compared to how it was when he took part in the production of the film. The film will be screened again on Saturday (February 13) at 4PM at the Kairali theatre. The film is screening as part of the International Competition category, competing with 13 other films for the 'Suwarna Chakoram' for Best Film of the festival.
