Actresses should apologize to AMMA: KPAC Lalitha
Kochi: Veteran actress KPAC Lalitha, speaking about the actresses allegations against AMMA, said the controversies are mostly blown out of proportion.
"Earlier, we did not have a platform to respond against the inequalities and injustices against women in cinema. Now the women have all the facilities to respond and react against discriminations," she said.
KPAC Lalitha said that AMMA is an association that has no male-female difference. She was responding to the allegations raised by the WCC members about the stand taken by AMMA in the actress attack case. She said that those who resigned from AMMA should apologise to the association.
'Issues could have been resolved if it was discussed within the association meeting. We should not let others to ridicule us just because we discuss the problems publicly,' the veteran actress said.
'Even the actress who complained that they were addressed as ‘actress’ has acted in my husband’s films. She had no issues while working with us. Even replacing actors is not new in film industry,’ KPAC Lalitha said. She added that the actress' name is not being taken out of concern if it would cause any further controversy.
As we get old, we have to be satisfied with the roles we are being offered. The internal affairs of the association should not be discussed outside. Mohanlal is not only the president of AMMA He possesses many other honours like colonel and is the winner of many awards. He should be treated with respect.
Addressing someone as actress is not a dishonour. Instead of making unnecessary troubles, everything should be peacefully discussed in the association. Those who quit the association should apologise to the association in order to be taken back. It is a basic manner, she added.
