Actress Manju Warrier and crew stranded in Himachal Pradesh rescued
Kozhikode: Actress Manju Warrier and a movie crew, who were stranded in Chatru in Himachal Pradesh in the floods that hit the state have been rescued.
The film crew of 30 persons were shifted to a safe area in Manali from Chatru. They have been provided food and other necessary materials, Himachal Pradesh chief minister Jai Ram Thakur informed union minister V Muraleedharan.
Manju and team arrived in Chatru, 100 kms from Manali, three weeks ago for shooting of Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s new movie ‘Kayattam’. The team had been staying there for the past three weeks.
The area was isolated after roads, internet and communication facilities to here were damaged in the heavy rains and landslides.
By night 9 pm on Monday, Manju had contacted her brother Madhu Warrier via satellite phone seeking help. Communication with the team has been lost after Monday’s heavy rains.
It is reported that some tourists are also stranded here along with the movie crew. The film crew had only food supplies for two days.
Madhu contacted union minister V Muraleedharan seeking help. The minister had contacted Himachal Pradesh chief minister and sought immediate help.
