Actors should not become ‘stars up in the sky’: Speaker
Kollam: Stressing on the need for a good film culture in the state, Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan said actors should not be ‘stars in the sky’ instead should become ‘plants on earth’.
Speaking at an event of Kottarakkara Bharat Murali Culture Centre on Friday, he said though many high quality movies are being made in Kerala, Malayalam cinema industry lacks good film culture.
He presented the seventh Bharat Murali Film Awards to actors Surabhi Lakshmi and Indrans on the occasion.
“One should not get carried away by convictions that real life is as exciting as in movies. The recent unfortunate incidents in the industry is the aftermath of such notions,’ the Speaker said.
Remembering actor Murali, Sreeramakrishnan said he was an actor who contributed immensely to Malayalam cinema and theatre alike. He was so talented that it was difficult for audience to say if he was acting as the character or was living it.”
Indrans received the best actor award for his role in movie ‘Pinneyum’ while Surabhi got the award for her character in ‘Minnaminungu’.
