‘Thanneer Mathan Dinangal’ director reacts to comments on Vineeth Sreenivasan’s 'overacting'
‘Thanneer Mathan Dinangal’ is one of the most successful movies recently released in Malayalam. Though majority of the actors were new face, the movie had a huge box office collection in a few days. It is learnt that the movie has entered the 50 crore club already.
Movie director Gireesh A. D. said that he never imagined that the movie would become a grand success.
“I was literally speechless watching its success. ‘Thanneer Mathan Dinangal’ cannot compete with the Onam release movies, because most of the people have already watched it. Those who watch it repeatedly make it still active in theatres. A boy had called me after watching the movie for the 13th time,” he said.
Was Vineeth overacting?
“Vineeth Sreenivasan is a person who focus on only acting when he is part of a movie as an actor. He is not interested to interfere with other fields of the film. He liked the script in the first reading itself, but did not intervene. He has made some improvisations while acting. He is a truly professional person.
His character Ravi Padmanabhan is not a real person, but a caricature of several mannerisms of many persons in real life. He is a representative of the attention seekers who act like jokers. I have seen many such persons in different contexts like wedding functions, schools and public events.
There is a general opinion that Ravi’s character was a little overacting in the movie. But in fact, the character is exactly like that. If Jaison, the hero, should feel a dislike towards Ravi, he should be a little overacting. Otherwise, the audience may feel that Jaison has some trouble,” Gireesh explained about the character.
Gireesh and team are thinking about the next movie while they celebrate the success of the first one. “I have a few stories in my mind. But I am confused which one should be made into a movie,” he said.
